Brad Larson watches to make sure Radon Anderson’s older brother isn’t coming, as Anderson climbs the roof of the shed behind his family’s trailer. “ Do you want me to jump?” Anderson asks Larson. When Larson mumbles a nervous response, Anderson quickly reassures him he’ll be all right. “ It’s not far, Brad, I do this all the time.” Larson hears someone mention the time; 9 p.m., and heads home to Buena Vista Trailer Court, a court neighboring Futura. After school lets out, until way past dark, children and teenagers in Futura can still be found, jumping tires, playing basketball, riding bikes, or just playing outside. Indifferent to the temperature, they can be found in packs, or alone, wandering through the streets that weave through Futura Park.
